ERATFI HOME

Please download the Eratfi! tokens here. You may have to download a couple of pages, depending on the number of people playing.

Cut the tokens out and place them in a basket or some type of holder that you may want to decorate yourself. Have fun and be creative. You may even decide that this project will be your first game. Everyone has to contribute their ideas for making the holder, while making everyone else right for their ideas.

Everyone decides on one prize that will be shared by all. It could be a movie that everyone attends or rents, movie and popcorn, a trip to a dollar store, zoo, skating rink, etc. If you are traveling in a car, the prize could be to stop for lunch at a restaurant and everyone gets dessert, etc. The goal is to pick one thing that everyone agrees on.

A time frame is set for the game (1/2 hour to 24 hours). It is best to set a short time frame at the beginning, as you want to set up this game so that everybody wins. Everyone decides the total number of Eratfi! tokens it will take to win the game. Since you will be starting with a smaller time frame, the best bet would be to limit the amount of tokens to one per person. Example: If three people were playing the game, then you would have to have 3 tokens at the end of the set time frame to win. As you become more familiar with Eratfi, you can expand the time frame, make the rules more challenging, and use more tokens.

In the beginning, the rules are to make everybody playing Eratfi! right, just with words. Example: Let's say that the twins, Emma and Ella, are playing a game and their brother Evan decides to join them. Evan has an idea that he thinks will make the game better, but now Evan is winning all the time. Emma and Ella think this is unfair, and maybe it is. The idea of Eratfi! is to make Evan right. Emma and Ella decide that even though Evan is winning all the time, he is right for doing so. This actually makes Emma and Ella the winners of this scenario, and they each receive a token. Now, Evan realizes that the girls have each received a token for making him right. He may now decide that he wants to make the game fair for everyone, (making Ella and Emma right for making him right) so he also receives a token. Everyone wins! Another example could be that Kelcey and Clinton are outside jumping on the trampoline and their Mom calls them in to help her clean the house. They both think this is unfair because they are having fun. Instead of whining, they decide to make Mom right. They run into the house, turn on some music and join Mom in cleaning the house. Now everyone is happy, it has turned into a fun event, and everyone receives a token. Again, everyone wins! I think you will be delightfully surprised at not only how quickly children catch on to this game, but the creativity that will also blossom as they develop a different mindset on dealing more peacefully and happily in the world. Could this be the beginning of the end to school violence as more and more children learn to appreciate this approach?

It is very important that you leave room for errors, because that is how we learn best. If you make someone wrong (according to you or the other person) you do not receive a token. This is the hardest part of the game, because it really means that you have to honest!!!

Once the time is up, everyone counts his or her tokens to see if you have met your goal.
